
Aricept Side Effects:
As with any medication, there may be side effects of Aricept including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle spasms, insomnia, and decreased appetite. After 7-21 days these side effects will usually disappear, however if the side effects are still present after this time you should consult a doctor. More severe side effects including depression, feeling low, change in heartbeat, fainting/losing consciousness, changes in urination, weight loss, severe vomiting, very dark stools, stomach pain and seizures or fits. If any of these side effects are experience it is important to seek medical attention urgently. Aricept Directions:
You should always follow the instructions of the doctor who prescribes your medication, however directions and dosage will also be noted on the packet. Generally the dosage is one tablet to be taken at the same time every day, usually in the evening. Aricept can be taken with or without food. If you have trouble sleeping you may be able to take your medication when you wake up rather than in the evening, although it is important to discuss any changes in your medication habits with a doctor before doing so. You must not stop taking Aricept or change the amount that you take without the prior consent of a doctor as this can be dangerous. Aricept is usually prescribed in 5mg doses, which will then be increased to 10mg doses once the initial side effects have subsided.
Aricept Precautions:
If you have an allergy to any of the ingredients it is important that you do not take Aricept, and that you inform your doctor. You must also inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions Inform doctor of pre-existing medical conditions as Aricept may be unsuitable for patients with certain other conditions or illnesses. Aricept may also interact with other medicines, and it is therefore essential to disclose to your doctor any other medications that you are currently taking. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to conceive, you should always consult a doctor before taking any medications.
